About

Jill Zonnefeld

My name is Jill Zonnefeld, I am a Dyslexic Therapist in the Northern Colorado area. I became interested in dyslexia when I was working as a literacy and math tutor for a public school in Fort Collins, Colorado.

During my journey before I became employed as a tutor in PSD, I received my masters in Audiology at Colorado State University. While completing my masters I married my husband, Brian, and we settled in Fort Collins, Colorado. We have raised four sons. I enjoy horseback riding, paddle boarding, cross country skiing, and reading.

When I discovered several of the students that I was tutoring had dyslexia, I realized that these students needed more specific instruction than I could provide. To further my knowledge I went back to school and received  my Dyslexic Therapist Certification through Colorado Literacy and Learning Center, https://www.literacynow.org/literacy-certification-liscp with the Take Flight curriculum. I continue to pursue my education to deepen my understanding of dyslexia.

My philosophy is a therapy approach when working with students. Therapy is a process that moves through stages and takes time to move through the Take Flight program. To be successful, the student needs to be willing to commit to the process. Parent partnership is crucial. As I get to know the student, I will capitalize on his/her's individual learning style and strengths.

I will be in partnership with you, your child, and any allied professionals engaged with your child. I will also be happy to communicate with teachers and/or advocate for your child in the school system.
